PREDICTING THE BEHAVIOR OF WATER AND GAS CONING IN HORIZONTAL WELLS
http://www.ogbus.ru/eng/authors/Salavatov/Salavatov_1.pdf

Coning is a term used to describe the mechanism underlying the upward movement of water and/or the down movement of gas into the perforations of a producing well. Coning can seriously impact the well productivity and influence the degree of depletion and the overall recovery efficiency of the oil reservoirs.
Delaying the encroachment and production of gas and water are essentially the controlling factors in maximizing the field's ultimate oil recovery. Since coning can have an important influence on operations, recovery, and economics, it is the objective of this paper to develop a computer program for calculating the critical oil (or gas) rate to avoid coning of unwanted fluids into production wells and to predict the behavior of water and gas coning in horizontal wells.

http://www.ogbus.ru/authors/Rozhkin/Rozhkin_1.pdf (in Russian)

The article deals with the task of determining the effectiveness of the downhole sucker rod pump with deleterious effects of dissolved gas in oil. The results obtained in the paper show that the nonequilibrium factor significantly affects the efficiency of the borehole pumps. However, it should be borne in mind that these results were obtained in bench conditions, ie in circumstances where possible to provide only the influence of gas oil at the rate filing. Naturally, in the real world, such analysis can not hold. In this case you need statistical data processing operation of wells.

EVALUATION THE METHODOLOGIES OF ANALYZING PRODUCTION AND PRESSURE DATA OF HYDRAULIC FRACTURED WELLS IN LOW PERMEABILITY GAS RESERVOIRS
http://www.ogbus.ru/eng/authors/Al-Reshedan/Al-Reshedan_1.pdf

Production data analysis approaches have advanced significantly over the past few years. While many different methods have been published in the literature, there is no single method that yields the most reliable answer. Analyzing production history and pressure data of a hydraulically fractured gas well in low permeability reservoir can be an effective way to estimate the well and reservoir properties. However, fractured gas wells in low permeability reservoirs represent a challenge to petroleum engineers. This is because of the presence of wellbore storage, formation damage and Non-Darcy flow effects around wellbore.
This study uses an advanced production analysis package, Topaze software, to evaluate the most applicable methods for use in determining well and reservoir parameters, and estimating the gas in place for hydraulically fractured gas wells in low permeability reservoirs. Field and simulated examples are presented to illustrate the evaluation of these methods. Results from this study show that modern methods such as Blasingame, Normalized Pressure Integral and the Flowing Material Balance are valuable analysis tools for production history and pressure data. Both pressure transient analysis and production analysis have been studied.
The interaction of changing wellbore storage and Non-Darcy flow effects on the analysis of production and pressure data have been studied. Results show that using flowing pressure data in production analysis will be more representative and descriptive of the reservoir than using wellhead pressure data for gas well.

FORMATION DAMAGE TESTS OF SOME COMPLETION FLUIDS
http://www.ogbus.ru/eng/authors/Hemeida/Hemeida_2.pdf

Completion and workover fluids are invading into the producing zone causing formation damage. This damage may be induced due to precipitation of some solid particles suspended in workover fluids or incompatibility of workover fluids with producing formation, formation water and crude oil. Therefore, brines are commonly used as workover fluids. In the present work, a laboratory study was carried out to investigate the effect of employing some workover fluids on formation permeability. Workover fluids used were 8.5 ppg low density calcium chloride brine, 14.5 ppg high density calcium chloride/calcium bromide brine, low density brine with 0.3 % surfactant and high density brine with 0.3 % surfactant (Petronate). Results showed that damage may be reduced when low density calcium chloride fluids are used. Also, the addition of surfactant (Petronate) to the workover fluids can improve formation permeability and reducing formation damage.

PRE-POST FRAC TEST DATA ANALYSIS FOR HYDRAULICALLY FRACTURED VERTICAL TIGHT GAS WELL-FIELD CASE STUDY
http://www.ogbus.ru/eng/authors/Dmour/Dmour_1.pdf

Worldwide there are vast reserves of natural gas trapped in tight sandstone formation and due to the low viscosity of natural gas it can be easily recovered. To produce this huge amount of reserve from low permeability formation economically, hydraulic fracturing can be applied. Therefore, the objective of hydraulic fracturing for well stimulation is to increase well productivity by creating a highly conductive path (compared to reservoir permeability) a distance away from the wellbore into the formation.
The post treatment performance provides a good indication of stimulation success, whereas, pressure transient (PTA) and production data analysis for hydraulically fractured vertical well remains the most applied method to determine the reservoir and fracture parameters. Therefore, this analysis is a key element for optimization of hydraulic fracturing process and forecasting well performance.
This paper discus the analysis of pressure and production data from hydraulically fractured vertical well in low permeability sandstone reservoir. Whereas, Pressure transient analysis is used to evaluate the effective fracture parameters such as fracture half-length, fracture conductivity and reservoir properties. Field example of application of production data analysis for vertical fractured well are presented.
The aim of this study is to evaluate the gas well productivity as a result of hydraulic fracturing treatments compared to the pre fracturing productivity and to estimate the petrophysical properties of the gas well from MIT testing data. Moreover, a discussion of how significant the increment in gas productivity was achieved with a very high propped fracture treatment success rate, is also presented. Furthermore, a view of how the correct design of fracture treatments can enhance reservoir performance and the recovery rate is discussed in details.

EVALUATION THE POTASSIUM BROMIDE AND ZINC BROMIDE BRINES FOR WORKOVER OPERATIONS
http://www.ogbus.ru/eng/authors/Hemeida/Hemeida_1.pdf

Clear brines are used extensively as workover fluids because of their low damage characteristics. This work was conducted to study the physical properties of potassium and zinc bromide brines and the compatibility of these brines with different API gravity Saudi crude oils and formation water. Also, the effect of temperature on brine viscosity was studied. It was found that true crystallization temperature for potassium and zinc bromide brines were (-14 C) and (-25 C), respectively. These brines were found incompatible with the tested Saudi crude oils where stable emulsions were formed but light crude oil (42 OAPI) was compatible with potassium bromide. Also, potassium bromide brine showed compatibility with formation water while zinc bromide was incompatible with formation water because of NaCl scale precipitation. The tested brines have shown non-Newtonian (dilatants) behavior and the viscosity of brines decrease with increase in temperature. Viscosity - temperature correlations were found for the tested brines with high accuracy.

The paper considers compatibility of formational water of the Irelyakh gas and oil field of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) with the highly mineralized solution used as an agent of reservoir pressure maintenance (RPM) with an allowance for factors, which influence solubility of salts, salt effect in particular. Also, possibility of concurrent reactions and specific conditions characteristic of the fields of the southwest Yakutia (by the example of the Irelyakh GOF) have been taken into account. It is shown that with the increase of the time length of wells' flooding with the liquid for RPM the pore space structure undergoes changes due to its calcination and sulphatization, which causes deterioration of reservoir properties and subsequently can complicate the operation of producing wells and the field in the whole.

ANALYSIS OF PRODUCTION FACILITIES INTERACTION CHARACTERISTICS DURING DEVELOPMENT OF MULTILAYER FIELDS
http://www.ogbus.ru/authors/Salavatova/Salavatova_1.pdf (in Russian)

During the development of multilayer fields one of the basic ways to analysis the process of oil and gas production is the examination of production facilities as a whole.
The conducted analysis of the technological characteristics of the "Gum-deniz" (Azerbaijan) field's development on the base of the rang and multiple correlations, and also on the estimation of the fluid recovery rate dynamics by using the exponential model made it possible to reveal the existence of production facilities interaction characteristics.
On the base of the conducted research was determined the opportunity to combine the whole line of horizons into a single production facility .this gives us the opportunity to estimate the prognosis values of hydrocarbons' extractive volumes.
This approach gives us the opportunity to carry out the procedures of the long-term forecasting more soundly and make decisions on the changing strategy and development tactics, taking into account the dynamics of the concerned production facilities' interaction. This allows us to increase the effectiveness of the multilayer fields' development.

FIELD HYDRODYNAMICAL TESTING OF GAS CONDENSATE WATERING WELLS
http://www.ogbus.ru/eng/authors/Ponomarev/Ponomarev_1.pdf

The watering out of gas-condensate wells on Urengoi field at existing cluster well production gathering system can become the strong negative factor lowering performance of gas and condensate recovery. At the first stage creation of method of calculation of the well behavior in these conditions conducting complex hydrodynamic and gas condensate tests of several gas condensate wells with adjustable feeding water-methanol mixture into the well bottom was required. For the adequate description of a multiphase flow moving with the help of the Peng-Robinson equation the method of calculation interaction coefficients of the basic gas condensate system components at the presence of water and methanol is advanced.
On the basis of treating outcomes of such tests held on several gas-condensate wells, the updated dependences for calculation true gas-content of a multiphase upward flow in vertical tubes are obtained at a dispersion-ring-type regime of stream. Using these dependences allows to calculate values of bottom hole pressure on measured well head pressure with satisfactory for practice by accuracy.

OPTIMIZATION OF CENTRIFUGAL OIL-WELL PUMP OPERATION FOR A DEVIATION PREVENT
http://www.ogbus.ru/authors/Zeigman/Zeigman_1.pdf (in Russian)

The performance optimization of system a stratum–well-pump - is the basic difficulty of well operation. The decision of this problem is a multialternative task. It is necessary to watch mode operations of system constantly, because the system is dynamic. The reservoir properties of bottom-hole formation zone vary constantly in an operating time. The particular attention should be given on change of reservoir properties during treating bottom-hole. If the process is not observed, there can be various complications in the exploitation of well. It can be expressed especially strong in the using of electric centrifugal pumps.

http://www.ogbus.ru/authors/Maltsev/Maltsev_1.pdf (in Russian)

There is considered the problem on the effect of the man-caused causes on the results of standard gas-dynamic researches. The problem appears under the following circumstances: 1) using of modern high-precision equipment; 2) existence of clustered technological series of gaseous bores; 3) using of computer processing of research results. “The starting effects” action most obviously emerges when recording the LPS (line of pressure stabilization). The influence of “the starting effect” during the carrying out gas-dynamic researches should remove in the following way: equipping the torch line end of the gaseous well cluster by electric valve gate in an explosion-proof view with remote control; inserting the corresponding amendments into the regulation on realization GDR (gas dynamic researches); carrying out everywhere the substitution of the standard computer processing of research results of GDR by their detailed complex analysis.

FLOODING IN THE DEVELOPMENT SYSTEM WITH SQUARE HEAD-ON LOCATION OF VERTICAL INJECTION AND HORIZONTAL PRODUCTION WELLS
http://www.ogbus.com/eng/authors/Mukminov/Mukminov_2.pdf

The influence of horizontal well systems and spacing upon productivity and upon current and ultimate oil recovery can be very significant. However, this question is hardly covered in the literature. The obtained analytical solutions show that the breakthrough time of the injected fluid weakly depends upon the length of the horizontal wellbore; the increase in horizontal well length by more than 50 % of the distance between the wells will not considerably influence well productivity and water-free oil recovery.

WAYS TO DECREASE PRODUCTION COSTS FOR SUCKER-ROD PUMPING
http://www.ogbus.com/eng/authors/Takacs/waystodecrease.pdf

Mainly due to its long history, sucker-rod pumping is a very popular means of artificial lift all over the world, roughly two-thirds of the producing oil wells are on this type of lift. To maximize profits from these wells in the ever-changing economic situation with rising costs of electric power, installation designs must ensure optimum conditions.
In the paper, basic considerations on ensuring profitable rod pumping operations are given. The key topics of installation design (pumping mode selection, optimum counterbalance, rod string design) are addressed and their role in the improvement of sucker- rod pumping operations and the reduction of lifting costs is discussed. After a review of the surface and downhole energy losses in sucker-rod pumped wells, some key considerations on the ways to improve system efficiency are given. The most important task is the proper selection of the pumping mode, i.e. the combination of plunger size, pumping speed, stroke length, and rod taper design for lifting the prescribed amount of liquid to the surface. The best pumping mode maximizes the lifting efficiency and, at the same time, reduces prime mover power requirements and electrical costs. The operational efficiency of the surface equipment is improved by using an optimum counterbalancing of the pumping unit. To achieve an ideal sucker-rod pumping system the mechanical design of the tapered rod string must be properly made.
The paper gives aspects and details of installation design improvements along with practical examples.

USE OF CONVENTIONAL DYNAMOMETER CARDSIN THE ANALYSIS OF SUCKER-ROD PUMPED INSTALLATIONS
http://www.ogbus.com/eng/authors/Takacs/useofc.pdf

A conventional dynamometer (the most common type of measuring device in rod pumping well analy-sis) records polished rod loads versus rod displace-ment during the pumping cycle on a plot called dynamometer card. Calculations requiring rod loads and displacements as input variables must rely on information retrieved from these cards. There are many conditions that prevent the pumping analyst from getting the right type and the desired amount of reliable measurement data from dynamometer cards. These include: (a) the card's small physical size, (b) visual reading of the card can be insufficient, and (c) additional information not readily available from the card may also be needed. The goal set forth in this paper is to present a novel technique for processing conventional dynamometer cards. The calculation method and the computer program developed for this purpose: (a) uses a simple computer configuration, (b) involves a simple, easy-to-learn procedure, (c) ensures the required accuracy, and (d) allows the retrieval of special information from the card that cannot be reached with other methods.

SELECTIVE CONTROL OF FIELD DEVELOPMENT INTENSIFICATION
http://www.ogbus.com/eng/authors/Tokarev/selectivecontrol.pdf
Additional downloads: Figure 1, Figure 2, Table.

The state of the art of development of the majority of oil-fields of Russia is characterized by growth of almost unrecoverable of residual reserves in headers of a composite constitution at a high water cutting of well production. The raise of performance of digging with almost unrecoverable reserves requires special scientific studies.
We esteem a system of selective control of intensification of process of development including hierarchical approach to learning a plant, statistical simulation of processes of development on various instants, estimation of potential possibilities of a plant on efficiency and blow- down recovery, optimization of methods of a bottom-hole zone treatment and a plant as a whole with the purpose of meliorating performance oil recovery and new methods of check by the dynamics of oil saturation of a bench during development. All this allows to forecast and to drive the process of development.
The methodology, considered by us, is resulted on an example of large oil producing region encompassing northwest of Bashkortostan.
